Nonpartisan Seattle Mayoral Primary Candidate Forum on Native Issues

Nonpartisan Seattle Mayoral Primary Candidate Forum on Native Issues

We invite the public and our Native community to attend a Nonpartisan Seattle Mayoral Primary Candidate Forum on Native Issues sponsored by Seattle Urban Native Nonprofits (SUNN) collaborative**.

This forum will center on Indigenous priorities and the urban Native community of Seattle. The event is nonpartisan and open to the public.

TIME/PLACE: Wednesday, June 23, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM PDT on Zoom Webinar, and streamed to Facebook.

This Seattle mayoral primary forum represents a renewal and resurgence of Native unity among Seattle’s Native American voters. Historically, Native Americans have been left out of conversations about policies directly affecting the health, well-being and opportunities for our Native relatives – our families and communities.

The city of Seattle has approximately 5,000 Native residents who are part of the larger Seattle metro area Native community of approximately 77,000 voting age Native citizens.

About SUNN

Seattle Urban Native Nonprofits (SUNN) collaborative convenes and strengthens Native-led organizations throughout King County to build collective power through dialog, education, action, and advocacy. To increase the well-being of our urban Native family, we call upon Indigenous strength, resilience, and wisdom to address systemic inequities and galvanize community-centered solutions.

As an urban Native community residing on the lands of the Duwamish, Suquamish, Muckleshoot, Tulalip, Puyallup, Snoqualmie, and Stillaguamish peoples in Coast Salish territories, we hold a responsibility to the first peoples of these lands and to our Native relatives from across the country who reside here.

**Due to legal obligations, Northwest Justice Project’s Native American Unit rescinds any influence on or participation in this event.
